Chris Fierro

chris fierro

Chris is from San Diego and uses his Tarpon 160 to target the Southern California inshore slam - Yellowtail, White Sea Bass, and Halibut.  In 2005, he won the Big Waters Edge Big Fish Division and continues to fish all local big fish kayak fishing tournaments.  His favorite fishing grounds are La Jolla and Baja, Mexico.  In addition to kayak fishing, Chris has adapted his kayak for spearfishing.

Chris says "kayak fishing can be technical, but at it's heart it is simplistic.  When kayak fishing, you see so much because you are only a few inches from the water.  You paddle at a speed that allows you to take in everything.  This enables you to focus on what is happening in the ecosystem to use to your advantage when fishing."
