Captain Dean “Slowride” Thomas has been making a full time living at guiding since 2002.  As the stars lined up that fateful year he discovered kayaking, opened a rental shop, combined that with his favorite type of fishing, sightcasting to tailing reds with  artificial lures and the fly rod, and as they say, “ the rest is history”… after trying out the competitive tournament trail scene for a few years he decided to focus more on home water charters, charity tourneys, and the Texas Kayak Fishing School, where he's taught hundreds of clients the ins and outs of shallow saltwater kayak fishing.  A proficient writer, photographer, outspoken conservationist, and scout master; Dean is sought out by outdoor clubs, scout troops, and magazines anywhere from Texas to Canada for public speaking, advice, and articles.   Raising two Eagle Scouts, founding the Texas Outdoor Guides Association, and running a business with his wife, Jennifer keeps Dean busy these days.
