Partnering with the proven technology of Torqeedo – leaders in lightweight, lithium-powered motor designs – the Wilderness Systems Motor Drive raises the ante on kayak propulsion technology. With top speeds reaching up to 6 mph at a range of around 20 miles, and featuring a solar-rechargeable lithium battery that lasts up to 8 hours and can charge while underway, the Motor Drive can simply take you farther, faster. The unit is lightweight at only 15 lbs. including battery, and comes equipped with an intelligent remote throttle that displays your GPS-calculated speed, remaining range and battery run-time. With a fully variable forward/reverse functionality, you can set the throttle to the speed and direction you want and you’re free to fish with two hands. The Motor Drive is quiet, low-maintenance, and a cinch to integrate and use in compatible Wilderness Systems kayak models (currently the A.T.A.K., Thresher and the new Tarpon 130X).
While on the water at the 2015 ORSM Demo Day, we asked Wilderness Systems Pro Staffers Bobby Clark and Juan Veruete what they liked about the new Motor Drive – check out what they had to say here:
