Daniel Fox Inspires Youth Through W.I.L.D.

Posted: 08.29.2014

Fox sets out to paddle 1,000 miles on the Pacific Coast to raise funds benefiting wilderness immersion camps for under-privileged youth

Wilderness Systems® and Adventure Technology® continue to support adventure, discovery and the next generation of paddlers through Daniel Fox’s new Wilderness Immersion for Leadership and Discoveries(W.I.L.D.) non-profit organization. Working with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), W.I.L.D. will give under-privileged teens the opportunity to attend wilderness immersion camps and develop leadership skills in an outdoor setting.

For W.I.L.D.’s first fund-raising campaign, Fox will kayak 1,000 miles skirting the Pacific Coast from Victoria, British Columbia, to San Francisco, California. Fox will be accepting pledges while he completes the two-and-a-half month journey, with the goal of sponsoring a group of teens to go on a thirty day NOLS Alaskan Sea Kayaking Program in the summer of 2015.

“It’s important to foster the future of exploration, sea-kayaking and outdoor recreation through programs like W.I.L.D.,” said Evan Lyendecker, marketing manager for Wilderness Systems and Adventure Technology. “Fresh off of a San Francisco International Photo exhibition Gold Award, Daniel has done a great job of inspiring others to appreciate nature through his photography, and I’m confident he will do outstanding work inspiring under-privileged youth and giving them an incredible opportunity to connect with the natural world through kayaking.”
