Join us in Cajun Country and immerse yourself in what National Geographic called a “hauntingly beautiful land” for a taste of the real Louisiana.
The Louisiana Kayak Fishing Boondoggle offers a rich and flavorful gumbo of camping, kayaking, fishing, fun and food. We’ll be “boondoggling” in Mandeville, LA at Fontainebleau State Park, on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, an estuary famous for its excellent fishing in October. Several nearby bayous offer brackish water teeming with giant bass, record redfish, and monster trout.
Covering 2,800-acres, Fontainebleau State Park offers126 improved campsites (with electricity, water, barbecue grills and picnic tables at each) and more than 200 primitive sites, several cabins that sit on stilts over the water with enough room for eight people. There’s also a kayak launch, a children’s water park, sandy beaches, fishing pier, picnic pavilions and no shortage of parking.
Tammany Trace, a 31-mile converted railroad track, runs through the Park offering a secluded path for cyclists, horseback riders, runners, skaters and walkers. Join us for a taste of the real Louisiana – Boondoggle style!
