Wilderness Systems Family,
Like you, we are thrilled with the success the A.T.A.K. 140 has seen in 2015. In fact, the boat was just named YakAngler.com’s Top Fishing Kayak of 2015 and also won the Kayak Angler’s Choice Award for Kayak of the Year!
As you may recall, we had a secret showing of the A.T.A.K. 140 as well as a prototype concept of the Motor Drive at the 2014 OR Summer Market, which at that time we confirmed that the Motor Drive would be compatible with the boat (now scheduled for launch in late February 2016). We did not make any claims to the development of a Pedal Drive at that show.
In July 2015, we revealed a video that showed a prototype Pedal Drive being used in an unnamed prototype kayak. At this time we can confirm that the Pedal Drive is indeed in the research and development design phase, and we are very pleased with it's progress (more to come at ICAST and OR 2016). However, we cannot confirm any backward compatibility with any existing Wilderness Systems models, including the A.T.A.K. 140 and other boats featuring the Flex Pod OS.
We apologize for any misconceptions or confusion around the Pedal Drive and its perceived compatibility, and we appreciate your continued loyalty and trust in Wilderness Systems products, both existing and new, to continue to provide you with the most premium experiences on the water.
